About Use All Seven
A word-game toolbox with one rule: we tell you exactly what our word list is — and what it isn't.
Our word list, honestly
Every tool here runs on the ENABLE word list (the Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon), a word list that was formally released into the public domain. It is the same list Words With Friends was originally built from. After our cleanup and additions it holds 171,402 words:
- We removed 89 slurs and profanity headwords — a word game helper doesn't need them, and the removal is deliberate, not an accident of the data.
- We dropped words longer than 15 letters — they can't be played on a 15-wide board.
- Words marked ★ are the everyday-common ones, from a public frequency list.
- We add a short hand-checked supplement of modern words the old list misses — each one individually attested in a standard dictionary and logged in our provenance notes. It currently holds four: QI and QIS, ZA and ZAS.
- We also add modern words from SCOWL, the spell-checker word lists — screened the same way, with slurs, abbreviations and junk removed by hand before anything merged. SCOWL is used under its MIT-style license.
What our list is NOT
It is not the official Scrabble tournament dictionary (that list is copyrighted and licensed, so a free site can't just take it). ENABLE is a 1997–2000 snapshot, so some words added to the official lists since then still aren't here — our SCOWL additions and hand-checked supplement patch the famous gaps, not all of them (QI and ZA were the two nobody should have to live without). If a word matters to a tournament game, check the official list too — and if our solver says a word isn't in our list, that's all it means. We'd rather show you the seam than paper over it.
How it works
The whole word list downloads to your browser once (about half a megabyte, compressed) and is cached on your device. Every solve runs locally — your letters are never sent to a server, because there is no solving server. The tools work offline after your first visit.
